Michelin Australia Pty Ltd was established in October 1997 to manage and develop the markets of Australia, New Zealand and some of the Pacific islands like New Caledonia, Fiji, Samoa and Tahiti. Prior to this, the Michelin brand had been in present in Australia for the last 50 years through its importation by sales distributors. Michelin's head office in Australia expanded and was relocated to Port Melbourne in Melbourne in 2001. This office houses all its national management and operational staff, including departments like customer service, product management, marketing, logistics, finance, personnel, communication and information technology.

Our head office in Port Melbourne (VIC) is also home to the Michelin Australia Training Centre (MATC). Where the tyre becomes unserviceable due to a condition within the terms of this warranty, the Michelin Company may at its option repair the tyre, supply an equivalent tyre as replacement, reimburse the value of the tyre based on the remaining tread depth or offer such other form of compensation according to its prevailing commercial policy.

This warranty does not provide compensation for service charges incurred, charges for mounting and balancing, loss of time, loss of use of vehicle, inconvenience or consequential damage insofar as the law permits.

Tyres presented to an authorised MICHELIN Dealer for compensation remain the property of the consumer and the Michelin Company accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to tyres which are in the custody or control of an authorised MICHELIN Dealer for the purposes of inspection. Tyres accepted by an authorised MICHELIN Dealer for compensation become the property of the Michelin Company. In the event of a dispute, the consumer must make the tyre available for further inspection.

No authorised MICHELIN Dealer, Representative or Employee has the authority to make or imply any representation, promise or agreement that in any way varies the terms of this warranty.

This warranty applies only in the Asia-Pacific region.

Tyres which become unserviceable under the following circumstances are not covered by this warranty:

• Road hazard injury (e.g. a cut, snag, bruise, impact damage or puncture, whether repairable or not)
• Incorrect mounting of the tyre, tyre/wheel imbalance or improper repair
• Under-inflation, over-inflation, improper maintenance or other abuse
• Mechanical irregularity in the vehicle such as wheel misalignment resulting in uneven or rapid wear
• Tyres fitted to or used with incompatible or improper valves, rims or wheels
• Vehicles which are carrying loads or running at speeds higher than the load and speed index marked on the tyre sidewalls or that recommended for the vehicle’s
• Tyres purchased second hand
• Improper storage
• Tyres which have not been fitted or used in accordance with the technical recommendations of the manufacturer as published from time to time
• Accident, fire, chemical explosion, tyre alteration or vandalism
• Tyres purchased from unauthorised dealers and
• Climatic or ozone effects.

MICHELIN Passenger Car and Light Truck Tyres, used in normal service and in accordance with the maintenance recommendations and safety warnings of the Michelin Company, are covered by a warranty against defects in design, workmanship and materials subject to the conditions set out below.

a. Tyres sold within three years of the manufacturing date
Where the tyres are sold within three years of the manufacturing date, the warranty shall be for the life of the original usable tread pattern or six years from the date of purchase, whichever comes first.

b. Tyres sold three years after the manufacturing date
Where the tyres are sold three years after the manufacturing date, the warranty shall be for the life of the original usable tread pattern or six years from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first.

At the end of the relevant periods stated in paragraphs a. and b. above, all warranties, express or implied are terminated.

The original usable tread pattern is the original pattern down to the level of the tread pattern wear indicators – 1.6mm of tread pattern remaining.

Date of purchase is documented by new vehicle registration (where the tyres were fitted on a new vehicle) or original tyre sales invoice. If there is no proof of purchase, the warranty will be based on the date of manufacture.

Safe Driving at Night

Eyesight adjustment to the lights and shades
Your eyes need some time to adjust to the lights and shades on the road when driving at night. Lightings on the road may also affect your vision. Therefore, we need to take some preventive measures:
- Change the angle of your rear mirror to reduce the dazzling effect if the cars behind you use headlights on full beam for long period of time.
- Get out of the direct lights or block the lights from the cars in the opposite direction.

Poor visibility on the roads
- Visibility will be reduced at night and that makes it harder for the driver to see the road ahead of him.
- The best solution to this issue is simple – slow down.

Safe Driving in the Rain

The roads get slippery and visibility suffers in rainstorms. Drivers should:
- Slow down
- Keep greater safety distance with the cars in front of you.
- Turn on the dipped headlight and peripheral lighting

Many drivers may ignore the fact that roads get more slippery in drizzle. Please keep an increased braking distance to ensure safety.

Safe Driving in Fog

Visibility will deteriorate in foggy weather. Therefore, drivers should:
- Obey the speed limit and refrain from overtaking. The heavier the fog, the lower the speed must be.
- Keep greater safety distance with the vehicle in front of you so you’ll have enough distance and time to react to the emergency conditions before you.
- Turn on your dipped headlight, and fog lights – when the visibility distance is less than 50 meters, turn on the rear fog lights as well if fitted to your vehicle.

Safe Driving on Ice and Snow

When driving on ice and snow, the drivers should:
- Slow down
- Keep greater safety distance with the vehicle in front of you

The roads become very slippery when covered with ice and snow due to lack of adhesion. It is therefore very important to make proper preparation:
- Prepare adequate tools, including shovel, pick and safety triangle. You can also use snow chains on your tyres.
- Start your car steadily. Do not step on your pedal too hard.
- Keep a moderate speed – use lower gears to control the speed when going down the slope.
- Use your brake and accelerator properly and gently to avoid skidding or slipping.

Safe Driving in Mud

Please stop your vehicle and inspect the road conditions when it is muddy. You should check the hardness and depth of the mud before moving on.

Simple ways to decide if you can get across the mud
- Observe tyre tracks of other vehicles to gauge the depth and consistency of the mud.
- Decide the type of vehicles that have left the track from the sizes and widths of the track. Use that information as a reference to decide if you can get across.

Safe Driving in Winds

Reduce your speed. Be prepared to stop any time so as to be always alert of the people or animals that may run onto the road.

Use your horn when unstable objects are in sight. However, pedestrians or other motorists may not be able to hear the horn due to strong winds.

If you are carrying cargo in the vehicle, please bundle the goods tight to prevent it from dropping to injure the pedestrians.

Close the window so the dust won’t be blown into the cabin to affect your breathing or observation.

Safe Driving in Mountain Areas

Before driving in mountain areas, you should:
- Check your vehicle carefully (the brake, tools on board and backup tires, etc.)
- Prepare food, appropriate clothing and emergency aids.
- Understand the weather and road conditions in the mountain area and choose your route wisely.

When driving in mountain areas, you should:
- Slow down and remain on the right of the road at corners or when the view is blocked. You should also blow the horn in advance and never go speeding or overtake other vehicles because cars may come in the opposite direction any time.

Safe Driving on Highways

You should never drive on highways with the speed higher than 110 km/h or lower than 60 km/h.

You should turn on your indicator at least 50-100 meters before overtaking or shifting lanes. Do not steer suddenly or your may lose control of your car and roll over.

After overtaking any vehicle return to the left hand lane.

Principles to follow under emergency

Under any emergency circumstance, rule number one is to remain calm and not panic. So you can make the right judgment and take the right actions in a short time.
First thing's first – save people before anything else.
- If an accident is unavoidable, actions should be taken to first ensure the safety of human life even at the cost of losses of other things.
Steering before braking
- When the traffic condition allows, you should always opt for steering to avoid collision, while at the same time, you need to slow down until the car stops.
- If you are driving too fast when the emergency occurs, do not steer too much. On the contrary, you need to slow down as much as possible and steer when the speed is down and reduce the impact of the collision.

Sudden steering in high speed may result in accidents that can be avoided otherwise. It may cause the vehicle to sideslip into a collision or even over turn.

Fatigue

Negative effects of driving with fatigue
- Lower hearing and seeing acuteness that make it more difficult to identify hazardous conditions.
- Harder to concentrate on the roads.
- Extended reaction time.
- Reduced motion accuracy.

Causes of fatigue
- Prolonged driving without proper breaks.
- Full stomach.
- Extended long working hours.
- Driving at night.

Ways to prevent fatigue
- Take a minimum 20-minute break after continued driving for four hours.
- Don’t stare at the middle line on the road all the time.
- Keep the cab well ventilated at comfortable temperature while listening to some music.
- Stretch yourself to relax when taking a break.
- Don’t eat too much.
- Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

Drinking

Drink driving is strictly prohibited. Alcohol content in blood will increase after drinking and result in the following problems:
- The driver’s visual field will be narrowed and views blurred.
- The driver’s reaction will be slower and less accurate.
- Without a thorough understanding of the traffic conditions, it will be difficult for the driver to make judgments in advance.
- The driving may become emotional and careless; hence tend to take risky driving actions.

Some examples of hazards when driving under the influence of alcohol:
- Under steering when swerving.
- Failure to see pedestrians who are crossing the road.
- Ignoring the traffic signals and disobeying rules at crossroads.
- Over-steering when changing lanes or turning corners.

Sickness

Unless certified with the qualification to drive safely, handicapped people shall not drive cars.

Discomfort and pains can distract you from focusing on the roads. Don’t drive under such conditions.

The driver’s sensitivity and reasonability will be reduced under the emotions of anger, grief, melancholy and fear. He won’t be able to observe and think properly so don’t drive.

Vehicle Goes to The Left or Right Side on The Flat Road Surface

Causes:: Poor wheel alignment
Suggestion:: Check wheel alignment to ensure even wear and precise driving.; Alignment is a must when you find:
1) Uneven wear on front and rear tyres
2) Changes in vehicle handling or steering reactions (e.g. the vehicle goes left or right side); If the suspension system and steering system works correctly and the wheel rolls in a straight line, the wheel alignment is correct. When the suspension system puts the tyres on the ground evenly, the tyre wear will be even, too.

Vehicle Vibration When Driving

Causes:

Poor balance, poor alignment or mismatch of vehicle steering system and suspension

Suggestion:

1) After mounting new tyres or having a tyre repaired enure that the wheel and tyre assembly are correctly balanced (correct balance provides comfortable ride and extended tyre life; poor balance may cause driver fatigue, excessive or uneven tyre wear and damages to the suspension system).

2) Balance your tyres when vibration is found. If the vibration continues after balancing, the steering system, suspension and alignment must be checked to find the cause.

1- Switch the warning lights on.
Stop your car in the emergency lane or other suitable area with a firm, level surface as far from the road as possible. The best place to stop is away from a corner, where approaching vehicles may not be able to see you. Put the hand brake on. Ensure passengers are in a safe place out of the vehicle and away from the traffic. Take the appropriate precautions for your own safety.

2- Wedge one of the wheels.
Place a chock/wedge under the tyre that is diagonally opposite the tyre that needs to be changed. Locate the vehicle jacking point nearest to the tyre needing to be changed. There will be one for each wheel, usually located underneath the doors. Extend the jack to fit into the jacking point and start to lift the car. Before the tyre leaves the ground, loosen the nuts, but do not remove them.

3- Once the wheel clears the ground.
Remove the nuts and put them in a clean place.

4- Remove the punctured wheel.
Place the spare wheel on the hub. Tighten all the nuts lightly.

5- Lower the vehicle and remove the jack.
Tighten the nuts firmly with the wrench. Put the tools and punctured tyre back in their correct storage place.

6- Return to the road, taking particular care.
Switch off the warning lights.
