For over 130 years, we have been driven by a passion for innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible by exploring the potential of materials and data. This strength is reflected in an annual R&D budget of nearly €1.2 billion and a global team of more than 6,000 people. Michelin’s expertise fuels innovation across all its product lines.
MICHELIN bicycle tyres are engineered and enriched with advanced technologies, all with a single goal: meet your needs and deliver products you can trust.
E-BIKE TECHNOLOGIES
All our tyres are tested on electric bikes to meet the specific demands of weight, power, torque, and wear that e-bikes can place on tyres. For electric bikes, we have two dedicated labels.
E-50 label
MICHELIN tyres with the E-50 label can be used on E-50 bicycles, including E-Bike assisted up to 25km/h.
E-Bike Ready label
MICHELIN tyres with the E-BIKE READY label can be used on E-25 bicycles. (E-25: Suitable for E-Bikes assisted up to 25km/h).
Our compounds
We’ve developed two distinct compounds recipe to answer the specific performance requirements of each tyre application. Some tyres even have recipes that combine these two compounds.
MICHELIN Gum-X compound
The Gum-X compound delivers strong rolling efficiency while delivering a good level of grip. For each product, a different MICHELIN Gum-X version delivers the tyre performance required.
MICHELIN Magi-X compound
The Magi-X compound offers the highest level of grip within the Michelin treads for extreme use. For each product, a different MICHELIN Magi-X version delivers the tyre performance required. This compound was developed from technology used in MotoGP™.

MICHELIN Protection Technology offers 1mm reinforcement to prevent punctures.
ROAD & GRAVEL TECHNOLOGIES
Grip on wet roads, durability, and low rolling resistance are essential for road and gravel bicycle tyres. That’s why we’ve engineered dedicated technologies to give you confidence and peace of mind on every ride.
Aramid Shield
High density Aramid reinforcement in the casing to provide strength at the crown of the tyre to reduce the number of punctures.
Tubeless Shield
Combined with sealant, it helps to maintain optimal pressure for long rides.
Bead-to-Bead Shield
High-density cross-laid reinforcement protecting the whole tyre casing to provide maximum protection and durability.
Hi-Density Shield
Hi-Density Shield Technology features a cross-laid reinforcement on the crown of the tyre.
Grip Design
Tread pattern designed to provide optimum grip in corners, even at high speeds.
Hi-Grip Design
Tread pattern designed to provide grip while riding in challenging weather conditions.
Legal Mentions
The E-Bike usage is very demanding for both tyres and rims, due to the permanent additional torque of the electric engine, and a more important weight to carry.
Michelin advice :
Check the appropriate inflation pressures before riding.
For that, Michelin strongly recommends respecting the minimum inflation pressures according to the biker’s weight : information available here.Regularly check the condition of your tyres (cut, crack, etc…) which can be damaged by:
a. repeated pinch shock (tyre pinched against root, hole, pebble, sidewalk, etc…)
b. terrain aggressions linked to off-road usage
c. damaged wheel (will insidiously harm the tyre’s bead)
For the same reasons, Michelin advises to regularly check the condition of your rims and especially the rim hook in contact with your tyres (bead zone).
For a better experience as to the use of your tyres, Michelin advises to use rims respecting ETRTO and/or ISO standards
