Michelin SELFSEAL

SELF SEAL

Michelin® Selfseal® Technology fixes flats before they happen.

MICHELIN® Selfseal Technology is optimized for the objects most likely to leave you stranded roadside (like nails and screws) by sealing most punctures up to 6mm. It remains a more environmentally friendly option by utilizing a natural rubber* sealant material that has no impact on rolling resistance and maintains all other tyre performances.

RECYCLING

Introducing an innovative process for reusing polystyrene waste and creating more sustainable Michelin products, developed by our partners at Pyrowave.

The process uses microwaves to break down discarded yogurt cups, food containers, and other plastic packaging to recover their original building block: styrene.

This recovered styrene is then used to make new packaging and products for the automotive, home appliance and tyre industries. For example, styrene is a key component in the synthetic rubbers used to make tyres.
With this technology, the equivalent of 80,000 tons* of polystyrene waste could be recycled into MICHELIN® tyres each year.

LIFE RISK

MICHELIN equips all sorts of civil security vehicles that are deployed on the three main risk theaters: Urban disasters like fire or flood, emergency person rescue and forest fire.
In the Mediterranean region, where a lot of countries are victims of forest fire, or in Australia, MICHELIN® tyres are chosen by emergency teams to equip their wide range of vehicles, as they cover all needs and provide maximum security, necessary in these life risk situations.
When deployed on a forest fire theater, safe and tough tyres are necessary. Tyres must not burst as the vehicle is surrounded by flames. The puncture risk also comes from burnt stumps that are so hard and sharp in that context that they can pierce through anything. Firemen cannot afford being stopped when they need to get as close as possible to the fire, as it would put their life at even more risk.
