Road 5s ran 15000 miles on cb500f

After 15,000 miles there was still tread but the rubber was done. Maybe the tire could stand to be a bit softer for our lighter bikes likes the cb500f.

Hi Nolan. Thanks for your feedback on MICHELIN Road 5 tires. To be clear, the carcass of the tire is the primary factor that delivers handling characteristics based on the weight of a motorcycle. We offer MICHELIN Road 5 tires in a standard version, which offers superb handling for a wide range of sport, sport touring and roadster type bikes, and a GT version with an extra bias belt ply for heavier sport touring motorcycles. The tread compound directly affects grip and longevity. A softer compound would offer more grip but wear out much faster. Thanks again for choosing Michelin! We wish you long and safe rides.

Daniel

Thought I wouldn't get 20,000km on the rear tyre due to being a heavy guy. I mostly use engine braking to slow down and rear brake because I commute daily on it. Also I am a very throttle happy rider. Surprised to get 30,000km from it. Amazing tyre. Was fearlessly able to lean on it until the last few 1000km but that's ok it's also winter here. Definatly recomend.

Hayabusa

I ride a 2016 'Busa, some commuting but mostly long distance, endurance type stuff in pretty much all weather. I have never had a tyre that gives me the cofidence that these do.

Good Handling, High Mileage

I have been using Michelin PRs on my 2016 Yamaha FJR1300 for 5 years, and this is my second set of PR 5s. Got 12k on the last set, front and rear. Handling is good, wet grip excellent - important in Florida during our wet summers.

I've got a 1200 ninja and a cbr1100xx they both love these tires

Rain or dry feels about the same on these tires it's amazing! And the mileage is unreal and believe me I ride hard at 180 speeds daily. So I can't be worrying over sacrificing my life due to the few $ I might've saved by going for the cheaper allegedly stickier tire. I'll kill a front tire lot faster than rear tire sometimes but yeah I'm not complaining I'll go through 3 sets of those cheaper Tires before I will eat up just one set of these. And again the rain issue. On these Michelin Tires there's no issue at all

Excellent tyres for all conditions

My regular tyre for the last few sets. Excellent longevity (15k kilometres on the rear) is realistic. I commute in all weather and they are responsive and reliable. They respond really well to spirited riding as well, they grip reliably and allow pretty quick change of direction in the twisties. Wil buy again.

Excellent tire in all conditions

Warm, cold, rain, dry, … doesn’t matter. This tyre performs flawlessly in all conditions. Lasts long too, 12000 - 13000 kms easily.

Skid master

I have never ridden a rear tire this bad since Avon brought out the Deathmaster back in 1886 - been out 4 times on the bike and 4 times it steeped out , slid the bike completely sideways - utterly hopeless . Don’t go near these commuter tires , if your bike has any kind of performance

Road 5 review from Canberra

Great tyres, have progressed through the range from the Road 3 and as of yesterday onto the Road 6 on my 2013 MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR -which does not have ABS and only rudimentary traction control. This bike relies on the rider rather than latest tech, so having a grippy tyre is paramount for the power this bike puts out. I've had sports tyres in the past and whilst they had slightly better grip in the dry, none of them come close to the wet weather grip and longevity. The Road 5 was a very good commuter tyre dealing with sub zero temps and off camber roundabouts with ease and even the occasional track day at Sydney motorsport park. Never had any worries in the cold temps or rain and only recently as the tyre hit the wear markers on the centre and sides was there a little squirming on the exit of corners. Hoping the Road 6 is even better.
